Program Description

Description

Ages 12 & up. Comics are more than just words and pictures; they’re a unique way of thinking, storytelling, and seeing the world. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll explore what makes comics tick, from panel flow and visual pacing to combining text and images for maximum impact. You’ll get practical tips and simple techniques for making your own comics, whether you’re drawing stick figures, elaborate illustrations, or something in between.

We’ll start with fun, fast-paced drawing prompts to loosen up, then dive into guided exercises that spark ideas and show how to build a story visually. The session will end with a collaborative comic jam, where participants take turns adding to a group comic—seeing how surprising, funny, and strange our combined imaginations can be.

No drawing experience needed—just curiosity, a sense of humor, and a willingness to try. All materials provided.

Space is limited. Registration required. Registration opens 3 weeks before the program at 7:00pm.
