Program Description

Description

All ages: Discover the beauty of Notan, a traditional Japanese art concept that focuses on the harmony between light and dark shapes. Notan designs often use simple silhouettes, cut paper, clean lines, and strong contrasts, to create artwork that feels both minimal and dramatic. In this beginner-friendly workshop, participants will learn how to use paper, scissors, and glue to build their own Notan-inspired compositions. It’s an accessible project that strengthens cutting and gluing skills while introducing a meaningful artistic idea: that light and dark depend on each other to create balance.

Space is limited. Registration required. Materials provided. Registration opens 3 weeks before the program at 7:00pm.
