Program Description

Description

This program will explain the difference between skilled nursing homes, independent and assisted living communities, continuing care retirement communities and memory care communities. How do these communities differ in care and amenities? Information will be provided regarding questions families should ask and things to look for, including how and when to start a conversation with your family member(s) about transitioning to one of these communities. In addition, data will be provided regarding the cost of assisted living versus the cost of remaining in the home, plus different ways to pay for care in the home and ways to help cover the cost of memory care or assisted living.

Presenter Liz Cornish is the owner of New Season in Life, LLC, which specializes in providing information and guiding seniors and their families through the maze of assisted living and memory care in Connecticut. She holds a BS and MS in Physical Therapy from Springfield College.

PARKING: There is ample library event parking in the nearby Isham Garage. Please bypass the garage kiosks and come directly to the Noah Webster Library Meeting Room, 20 South Main Street, where you may validate your parking with your license plate number.
