Program Description

Description

Grades 8-12: Create a new West Hartford Mayor's Youth Council logo to help us spread the word about our group and what we do! The winning design will be used on 2022-2023 applications, social media, the MYC webpage, and other publicity materials and the winner will receive a $100 gift card of their choice.

Contest Rules:

1) Open to West Hartford students in grades 8-12.

2) All artwork must be original to the artist and not resemble any existing copyrighted or published work.

3) The winning logo will represent the West Hartford Mayor's Youth Council and be used on digital and print media (applications, flyers, social media, website, etc.) to promote the group to the public. The logo should therefore be created with appropriate dimensions (not to tall/wide) for these different applications. It should also be relatively simple in design (not too detailed/ intricate) so that it reproduces clearly.

4) Logo design must be in color, but look good in black and white as well.

5) Logos can be hand-drawn or graphically designed.

6) Logos must be in .ai, .eps, .jpeg, .pdf, .png, or .tiff format and be 300dpi at print size.

7) Students may submit up to 3 design ideas for judging.

8) By virtue of submission, participants grant copyright permission to Town of West Hartford, West Hartford Public Library, consent that submissions may be displayed and/or reproduced without limitation and without compensation. Art work may be cropped or changed in color.

9) Contest submission form must be completed no later than 11:59pm on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.

10) Logos will be judged anonymously and one winner will be selected by members of the Mayor's Youth Council at their March 22, 2022 special meeting. The winner will be announced no later than March 31, 2022.
