Moods for Moderns: Diverse Voices in Contemporary Poetry, A Seminar/Workshop

SATURDAY - (1 of 2 sessions) In support of “West Hartford Reads!” Author/Professor Brent Terry will conduct two consecutive Saturday morning poetry classes. Register below.

Poetry, despite rumors to the contrary, is alive and thriving.  Today's poets are writing a stunning array of original and breathtaking work in a wide range of styles, each of which add a vibrant thread to the tapestry of contemporary poetry.  In the seminar section of the program Brent Terry will share five or six contemporary poems, each of which comes from a distinctive angle, each of which attempts something different from the others.  He will discuss each poem briefly, then take questions or comments on that poem.

At the end of the first session you will be given some ideas on how to write your own poem, then how to revise it into a masterpiece. That will be your homework!

In PART TWO (Saturday, August 4) poems will be discussed and read to the group.
