Description
Jill's talk will be a comfortable and informal presentation to help educate people on what it means to be transgender. This will be done by sharing her personal journey, victories and hardships. She will discuss:
- The coming out process
- The transition process (G-rated)
- The acceptance process
- Terms and definitions
- Right and wrong questions to ask other transgender people.
There will be a power point presentation to go along with the talk, with about 3 short videos. The duration is approximately one hour, and then she will address questions from the audience.
Jill is a 57 year old transgender woman who transitioned two years ago. In addition to being a realtor, and working at local theaters, Jill also works with an LGBTQ afterschool program at a high school in New Haven. She is in the process of organizing support groups for transgender kids and adults. This past January she decided to return to college for her Master's degree in psychology to become a counselor for primarily trans youth and adults.
