Observing birds is a great way to connect with the natural world and tune in to the beauty all around us. Join Catie Resor from Connecticut Audubon for an introduction to birds and birding. Learn about our local birds and how to go about observing and identifying them. What equipment will you need? Where should you look? What resources can help you? Our North American bird species are in trouble. Learn more about the problem and what you can do to help.

Catie is Education Program Manager for Connecticut Audubon, Greater Hartford. She has a lifelong interest in birds and natural history. She received her undergraduate degree in biology from Dartmouth College and a masters degree in Botany from the University of Wyoming. She has lived all over the US, in Alaska, Colorado, Wyoming, Texas, and California working as an educator both in the classroom and outdoors. Having grown up in Connecticut, she returned to her roots when she moved back to the state in 2003. 

Connecticut Audubon has been protecting Connecticut’s birds, other wildlife, and their habitats through conservation, education and advocacy for 125 years. They operate nature facilities in Fairfield, Milford, Pomfret, Hampton, Sherman, and Old Lyme, and an EcoTravel office in Essex.

They also manage 22 wildlife sanctuaries encompassing more than 3,400 acres of open space in Connecticut, and educate over 100,000 children and adults annually. Connecticut Audubon is an independent organization, not affiliated with any national or governmental group.
