Pet therapy is a broad term that includes animal-assisted therapy. It is a growing field that includes using dogs or other animals to help people recover and cope with both physical and mental health disorders. The therapy can reduce loneliness and increase feelings of social support and boost your mood. Our facilitator, Lyne Stokes, will teach you what it takes to become a therapy dog trainer. In fact, Lyne's own therapy dog, Jackie-Joy helps her patients in a positive and rewarding way!
Lyne Stokes, MS Ed RSS, is a Recovery Specialist and Animal Assisted Therapist.
This program is a joint effort with the West Hartford Senior Center.
