Description
Sinclair Lewis brought his newfound fame and his family to West Hartford in 1922. They intended to stay indefinitely, but instead it turned into a volatile one-year stint punctuated by dramatic faux pas. He called Hartford businessmen a "bunch of Babbitts," shocked Farmington matrons with his off-color ebullience, and nearly ruined his relationship with Dr. Paul de Kruif, silent co-author of Arrowsmith, the novel Lewis incubated in West Hartford and which would win him the Pulitzer Prize. Join Dr. Dennis Morgan for an evening of entertaining tales of Lewis's time in West Hartford.
Dennis Morgan, MD is a retired physician and medical history columnist for the physician network Sermo. He has published articles on Sinclair Lewis and his novel Arrowsmith for Connecticut Explored magazine and for the Sinclair Lewis Society.
Registration required. Registration opens one month before the program at 7:00pm.
