DESCRIPTION:Join us for a screening of the documentary of My Friend Kim ab
out medical aid in dying in the state of Connecticut, followed by a discus
sion. About the FilmKim Hoffman was a passionate and articulate long-time
social worker and tennis coach at Conard High School. The film document
s Kim as she confronts her terminal illness and fights for her right to r
eceive medical aid in dying. Polls show that 75% of Connecticut residents
are in favor of medical aid in dying legislation, but it has failed to pas
s in the state legislature 16 times; while residents of several neighbori
ng states are afforded the option. Directed by local filmmaker Maribeth A
brams, this 30-minute film captures Kim’s strength and the unwavering su
pport of her wife Joy Cipollo. The screening will be followed by panel d
iscussion with the director and others featured in the film.  Maribeth Ab
rams from Skyline Films is the producer, director, and narrator of My Frie
nd Kim. Her dedication to educating others about this end-of-life option c
ame from her connection with Kim and others who desperately lobby for theÂ
option of medical aid in dying. Registration required. Registration open
s one month before the program at 7:00pm.Â
