Brazilian Drumming - A Community Big Bang

BLUE BACK SQUARE, 6:30-7:30 PM

With Professor Eric Galm of Trinity College and his The Trinity Samba Ensemble - a drumming and singing ensemble that performs Afro-Brazilian music featured during the annual carnaval celebrations.

Trinity Samba Ensemble’s music is derived from the batucada, a drumming group that play a variety of musical styles including samba-de-enredo (music for the Rio de Janeiro carnaval parades); pagode (casual music with a primary objective of “hanging out” and having a good time); samba-reggae (a mixture of samba and reggae influences, found in Northeastern Brazil) and timbalada (a contemporary style that follows the samba-reggae trend.)

Come to listen, come to play, and come to enjoy the music! Don't forget ... Please feel free to bring your own chairs!
