Program Description

Description

Join us for a screening of the documentary of My Friend Kim about medical aid in dying in the state of Connecticut, followed by a discussion.

ABOUT THE FILM

Kim Hoffman was a passionate and articulate long-time social worker and tennis coach at Conard High School. The film documents Kim as she confronts her terminal illness and fights for her right to receive medical aid in dying. Polls show that 75% of Connecticut residents are in favor of medical aid in dying legislation, but it has failed to pass in the state legislature 16 times; while residents of several neighboring states are afforded the option. Directed by local filmmaker Maribeth Abrams, this 30-minute film captures Kim’s strength and the unwavering support of her wife Joy Cipollo. The screening will be followed by panel discussion with the director and others featured in the film.

Maribeth Abrams from Skyline Films is the producer, director, and narrator of My Friend Kim. Her dedication to educating others about this end-of-life option came from her connection with Kim and others who desperately lobby for the option of medical aid in dying.

Registration required. Registration opens one month before the program at 7:00pm.
