FOOD EXPLORERS - Whoopie Pies

For ages 6-10

Let's get Cooking! These delicious thick chocolate cakey cookies are filled with a creamy marshmallow filling. You'll need flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, light brown sugar, buttermilk, vegetable oil, 1 egg, butter, powdered sugar, and marshmallow fluff.

Join us for this virtual cooking class with Food Explorers via ZOOM for kids ages 6 to 10. You are registering for Whoopie Pies on Monday, March 21 from 4-5 PM and is held virtually. A Zoom link will be emailed to participants prior to the start of class. 

Food Explorers presents 4 virtual cooking classes: (please register separately for each class.)

  • Monday, March 21 - Whoopie Pies. These delicious thick chocolate cakey cookies are filled with a creamy marshmallow filling. You'll need flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, light brown sugar, buttermilk, vegetable oil, 1 egg, butter, powdered sugar, and marshmallow fluff.
  • Monday, March 28 - Raspberry Cheesecake Brownies. This recipe takes your average brownie up a notch with raspberry cheesecake filling. You'll need the following ingredients: butter, 8oz. chocolate/chocolate chips, sugar, 4 eggs, flour, 8oz. cream cheese, raspberry jam and optional vanilla and fresh raspberries. You will need an electric mixer.
  • Monday, May 23 - Four Fold Quesadillas. This fun recipe can be made either savory or sweet, so get crafty with your ingredients. You'll need tortillas as the base but everything else is customizable! Here are some ideas: for savory: Mexican cheese, corn, black beans, salsa, avocado, sour cream;  for sweet: Nutella, strawberries, peanut butter, raspberries, chocolate chips, bananas, etc. Not all ingredients are required. Be creative! (Registration opens on 04/20 @10AM)
  • Thursday, May 26 - Burrito Bowls: This rice bowl is full of delicious ingredients, perfect for a cozy dinner at home. Here is a list of suggested ingredients, but feel free to customize: rice, black beans, corn (canned or frozen), salsa, avocado, cilantro, tomatoes, limes, peppers, sour cream, (pre-cooked before class) ground beef, taco seasoning, cumin, shredded cheese, etc. (Registration opens on 04/20 @10AM)
