VIRTUAL PROGRAM

Who are American Muslims, what is anti-Muslim bigotry and Islamophobia, and how does the mainstream media factor into the narrative? We will be joined by Aida Mansoor of the Muslim Coalition of Connecticut to learn more.

This program is the second part of a two-part series. We highly recommend registering for Islam 101: Beliefs and Practice on Tuesday, Jan. 30 to get a foundational understanding of Islamic beliefs and practices before attending this program.

Registration required. You will receive a Zoom prior to the program.

Can't make it? A recording will be available later in the week. Watch the first part of this series here

Aida Mansoor is a board member of the Muslim Coalition of Connecticut. She holds a BS in Biochemistry/Physiology, a Masters in Community Health, and a Masters in Religious Studies with a focus in Christian-Muslim Relations. She received her Islamic Chaplaincy Certificate in 2012. Aida serves as the Director of Field Education at the Hartford International University for Religion and Peace, and has been awarded the Human Relations Award from the National Conference for Community and Justice.

The Muslim Coalition of Connecticut (MCCT) was founded in 2004 by a group of local leaders in an effort to provide an alternative to the negative illustrations of Muslims. The leadership of the Berlin, Waterbury, and Hartford Muslim communities came together with other activists to establish an organization that would focus on educating the public on Islam and Muslims and building alliances with other faith communities in Connecticut through social activism and collective civil programming.

Presented in partnership with Bloomfield Public Library.
