Program Description

Description

This gathering commemorates the lives of nine people who were enslaved in West Hartford and Hartford. Students from both the public and private schools in West Hartford have studied them over the past school year as part of the Hidden History project. Students will tell the stories of Chloe and Tack, Bristow, Jude, Andrew, Tamar, Lydia, Isabella and Daniel. Be part of reading the names of the 59 people students have commemorated over the past seven years. These individuals who lived more than 200 years ago tell stories of both enslavement and freedom, the themes of Juneteenth.

This event is part of the 4th Annual West Hartford CommUNITY Juneteenth Celebration
