IN-PERSON PROGRAM

Prepare for a delightful afternoon as we welcome Carousel Museum docent Cate Mahoney for an enchanting talk on the history of carousels and their romantic connections! Learn about the evolution of carousel from its origins as an all-male sport of the Middle Ages to its role in early American courtship, as well as the tale of Rob and Jo Summit, the couple credited with saving the world of modern carousel as it is known today. Join us on this whimsical journey to the intersecting world of amusement rides and love stories.

Registration required.

This program is part of our Love Is in the Air celebration, inspired by the launch of WHPL’s official Romance Collection. During the month of February, join us in celebrating the many ways love shows up in the world.
