Program Description

Description

The purpose of the presentation is to briefly “walk” participants through the richness and diversity of Italy by weaving historical and modern events and facts about the country to illustrate its geography, language, cuisine, culture, politics, and economics.

The presentation is designed to be lively, humorous, and engaging. This will foster participants’ visualization and enjoyment of the story being told to appreciate not only Italy’s complexity about its past and present culture, but about its future. Participants wishing to travel to Italy will leave with a better understanding of how to travel successfully among Italians to fully enjoy their experience.

Brief personal anecdotes will be judiciously used to enhance the experience by including tidbits on personal family history and Tour Director work experience in Italy.

Mariann Millard is a Licensed Washington, DC Guide and a certified Tour Director who specializes in Italy. She thoroughly enjoys entertaining folks with her love of history to connect people, places, and things. Her extensive travel throughout her life has given her a keen appreciation for what makes us human and for the differences that makes us culturally unique. On a more personal level, raising triplets to adulthood has kept her grounded and in search of always finding ways, even if small, to keep herself sane and with her sense of humor intact.
