Description
Join tree naturalist, writer, and photographer Bill Gleason for a 2-hour walking tour of the Westmoor Arboretum. Located on the grounds of Westmoor Park, it showcases more than 130 different species of trees and woody plants. This spring tour highlights the specific and unique changes trees undergo as they emerge from winter.
Bill Gleason is also the author of the Westmoor Arboretum Self-Guided Tree Tour. Bill spent 40 years in the publishing business exploring oceans, coral reefs, rain forests, and terrestrial ecosystems. After retiring, he turned his camera and focus on northeastern native trees and forests. He led the team that designed the Westmoor Arboretum and is co-chair of West Hartford's Tree Action Group (TAG).
Registration required. Registration opens one month before the program at 7:00pm. Participants should meet "At the Wagon" right next to the main parking area.
PLEASE NOTE: The tour will take place regardless of weather EXCEPT in the case of drenching rain or lightning storms. Rain date is Sunday, May 4 at 1:00pm.
