Dungeons & Dragons @ WHPL

MYC is a council of students in grades 9-12 who represent different public, private, and home schools in West Hartford. They meet twice a month (1 council meeting, one work session) from September-May to help plan and facilitate community impact projects that improve the quality of life of West Hartford youth. They also work with local departments and organizations to help with town-wide initiatives as they arise.

About this group

All ages: A storytime with stories and music for the whole family! Children of all ages are welcome. This program is for the child and their caregiver.

No registration required.

Age 2: Join us for this storytime geared just for twos! A fun combination of stories, music, and movement awaits your two-year old. This program is for the child and caregiver.

This is part of the Preschool Storytime Series. Registration required.

If you are a speaker of a language other than English and you would like to practice your English, join us every Friday morning at the Faxon Library! This is an adult intermediate level English class for people with some English experience, who can hold some conversations speaking about everyday topics and personal preferences. The class will review grammar basics, learn how to offer and request advice, talk about plans, and fix common mistakes in English pronunciation.

The group typically meets on the third Saturday of the month to provide a space for poets to read their poems aloud and receive feedback. The group has self-published several collections featuring the work of group members. Meetings are held in a hybrid format, both in person and over Zoom.

About this group

Grades 3-8: Includes instruction, puzzles, and practice play taught by teens with teaching and chess tournament experience. All levels are welcome. 

This program is for the child alone. Parents must remain in the building for children under 12.

Registration required. Registration opens two weeks before the program at 7:00pm. Register for each session separately.

Ages 18 months - 4 years: Music, movement, visual literacy and language development in a fun class that teaches social skills, taking turns, and how to express emotions. This program is for the child and their caregiver.

Ages 12-23 months: Energetic storytime to match the energy of beginning walkers! For active one-year olds with books, songs, and rhymes with emphasis on repetition for developing minds. This program is for the child and caregiver.
