Join us for a West Hartford Reads! book discussion, featuring Liz Moore's book Long Bright River.
Long Bright River is a literary mystery centered on two sisters, Mickey and Kacey, in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood, which is deeply affected by the opioid crisis. Mickey, a police officer, investigates a series of murders of women with drug problems while also searching for her missing sister, Kacey, who is struggling with addiction. The novel alternates between the present-day mystery and flashbacks to the sisters' troubled childhood and their estrangement. It explores themes of addiction, family, and the impact of the opioid crisis on a community.
