Description
In recognition of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, the library is hosting two virtual panel discussions in May to celebrate our Asian American community members and elevate their stories. Panelists will explore how their heritage has informed their life experience and shaped both their sense of identity and the community at large.
The adult panel (5/21) features an array of local voices:
- Jason Chang, West Hartford Public Schools Board of Education member and Director of the Asian and Asian American Studies Institute at UCONN
- Tiffany Nguyen, Pho 135
- Ramona Puchalski Piretti, English teacher at Conard High School
- Malavika Vidwans, SNEHA
- Mike Keo, an award-winning photographer and activist behind the #iamnotavirus campaign
The panel will be moderated by Yukiyo Iida, founding member of West Hartford Parent Community Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Groups and Programs and Partnership Specialist at EquityCT.
There is an AAPI Youth Panel on Friday, 5/14 featuring Conard and Hall students and alumni. Click here for more information and registration.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email, followed by a Zoom invitation sent 24-48 hours before the event. Please note that you must register for each panel to attend both events.
