Join us to learn more about the West Hartford Community Fund and, more specifically, the process to apply for the Advisory Committee. All are welcome!
The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving established $100,000 community funds for each of the 29 towns in the Foundation’s region, including West Hartford. The purpose of the West Hartford Community Fund is to support our residents in taking ownership around the needs in our town and encourage broad and inclusive civic engagement.
The West Hartford Community Fund will be handled by an advisory committee of town residents. The Fund’s Selection Committee is currently beginning a process to select members for the Advisory Committee to be inclusive, representative and reflective of all West Hartford residents. Participation in the Advisory Committee is open to all West Hartford residents age 14 and older, except for elected officials. Previous experience in community organizations or in grant-making is not needed. The members of the Advisory Committee will determine how the committee will function and the details of the grant-making process. Ultimately the Advisory Committee will manage distributions from the fund in this and the coming years.
