Trees of West Hartford - Notable Trees with Frank Kaputa (NWL)

Established in 1985, the Notable Trees project collects and distributes information about Connecticut's largest and most historic trees, both native and introduced. Frank Kaputa will share the history of the project, along with details regarding identifying and measuring trees. This visual presentation will show images and information about Connecticut's largest trees, as well as highlighting West Hartford’s notable trees.

Our State is blessed with a rich diversity of plants, animals, forests, and historic resources. We all share a concern for preserving this cultural landscape, the things that give our state its unique character. Trees are symbolic of our relationship with nature, a touchstone to the past and future.

The Notable Trees Project is a volunteer enterprise sponsored by the Connecticut Botanical Society, The Connecticut College Arboretum, and the Connecticut Urban Forest Council.

Frank Kaputa is the co-chair of the Connecticut’s Notable Trees project.  A software engineer by education and profession, he became involved with the project almost 15 years ago. Initially involved with designing the database and website, he is now involved in all aspects of the project.  He lives in Glastonbury with family.
